Fee Structure Light Rail Expert Witness Services

Standard Hourly Fee

National Transit Services, LLC, represented by LightRailExpertWitness.com, offers expert witness services at a standard rate of $350 per hour. This flat rate encompasses all activities and stages of the case, ensuring our clients receive top-quality service without hidden costs.

The following details the standard fee structure, covering all services and ensuring transparency and clarity with our services.

Standard Service Fee Covers

Review

The review covers the initial stages of a case. This includes:

  • Initial Review of Case Documentation: Detailed examination of all relevant documents.
  • On-Site Inspections: Conducting thorough inspections at relevant locations.
  • Report Composition: Crafting initial reports based on early findings.
  • Preliminary Work: Undertaking essential preliminary tasks at the onset of a case.

Deposition

The time spent participating in depositions. This includes:

  • Expert Testimony: Providing expert testimony during depositions.
  • Travel Time: If travel is required, additional charges may apply.
  • Flat Daily or Half-Daily Rate: Some experts might opt for a flat daily or half-daily rate for deposition appearances, which will be communicated upfront.

Court

The time spent providing trial testimony in court. This includes:

  • Trial Testimony: Delivering expert testimony during trials.
  • Preparation Time: Time spent preparing for court appearances.
  • Flat Fee or Daily Rate: Similar to depositions, a flat fee or daily rate for court appearances.

Travel Fee

A flat rate of $2,450 per day on-site is billed for duties requiring overnight travel. Additionally, clients are responsible for all reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, including but not limited to:

  • Travel: Airfare, train, or other transportation costs.
  • Lodging: Accommodation expenses.
  • Meals: Daily meal costs.
  • Testing and Research: Any additional testing or research expenses.
  • Copying: Costs associated with copying documents.
  • Storage of Evidence or Documents: Fees for storing relevant materials.

Expert Witness Retention Contract

An expert witness retention contract covers all details of the expert witness retention and engagement, including all fee responsibilities. This contract ensures clarity and agreement on all terms and conditions.

Retention Retainer

To secure our expert services, a non-refundable retention retainer is required. Typically, this retainer ranges between $5,000 and $10,000, depending on the extent of the work. It serves as the minimum fee due to the expert and is earned upon receipt.

The expert will invoice against this retainer as work progresses.
